Tracking Quiz: Answers

So here are the answers to the tracking quiz.  Those of you who have not yet seen the quiz read no further.  To prevent any peeking here is the trackway that I had you look at again.

Okay, I know this is a tough track to interpret.  I had a bit of difficulty at first as well.  Her comes the answer…

The tracks that I was looking at move from right to left are a Green Frog.  There are also some bird tracks that are in the upper left third of the picture.

Here is a good look at the front feet of our mystery animal.  When frogs hop their front feet are very pigeon toed and face inward.  The longer webbed hind legs cover more surface area and don’t make as deep an impression in the soft mud.  If you look closely you can see the front and hind legs in the trackway.

  1. Whoa. . . even with the answers, I am struggling with even finding the track. Impressive that you spotted it.
